Update: In disappointing news to any Aussie Mortal Kombat fans hoping to secure a Mortal Kombat 1 Collector’s Edition at local retail, we can now confirm that this version of the game won’t be launching in Australia at all.
You’ll still be able to pre-order the Standard or Premium versions of the game, but if you’re keen on that 16.5″ COARSE Liu Kang statue you’re going to have to look internationally.
Mortal Kombat 1 was revealed last night and it wouldn’t be a big AAA game reveal without a collector’s edition (or kollector’s edition in this case).
Alongside the game’s release on PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC on September 19th, a collector’s edition will drop which includes the game, a 16.5″ Liue Kang statue, a steel case and three exclusive art prints.
There’s also a bunch of digital goodies including a Kombat Pack (with a Jean-Claude Van Damme skin for Jonny Cage) as well as early access and a bunch of other goodies.
There’s no Australian details for the collector’s edition yet, but it will cost $249.99 USD (~$377 AUD) so we can expect a price of roughly $400 or more if it does make its way down under.
Mortal Kombat 1 will feature reimagined fighters like they’ve never been seen before, including Liu Kang, Scorpion, Sub-Zero, Raiden, Kung Lao, Kitana, Mileena, Shang Tsung, Johnny Cage, and many others. It’ll also feature “Kameo Fighters,” a unique and entirely separate roster of partner characters that assist during matches to create expanded fighting gameplay possibilities.
