Insomniac Has Revealed More On Marvel’s Spider-Man 2’s Expanded Map

Can't wait!

PlayStation held a brand-new state of play showcase this morning, focused on indies, third party titles and PS VR2 games, bringing a decent little 20-ish minute collection of updates, new trailers and announcements.

Along with the above, it naturally took time out to highlight Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, which is launching very soon on October 20th, divulging a bit more on the game’s expanded open New York map and how it’s been made bigger but also more impactful and faster than ever to navigate. In the new video, which you can see below, Senior Creative Director Bryan Intihar narrates a deeper look at New York:

As we already know, traversal in Spider-Man 2 will be faster than ever thanks to the speed of the PS5’s internal storage, making it possible to swing (and now Web Wing) through New York faster than ever as well as switch between Peter Parker and Miles Morales near-instantly no matter where they are in the map.

Insomniac also says it’s made finding activities throughout the map more immersive with a combination of environmental cues highlighting where players can find fun diversions and challenges, as well as AR-enabled Spidey suits making it possible to quickly read what’s going down around the boroughs at a glance.

A PlayStation Blog post dives into even further detail, revealing that there will be 65 suits to collect in the game including original designs and fan faves from across Spider-Man comics and media, and some will even have alternate colour shaders to unlock. You can see the suits included with the game’s Deluxe Edition in the post, as well.

Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 releases exclusively for PS5 on October 20, 2023. Amazon has pre-orders for $99 with free shipping.

You can also still purchase the limited edition Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 PS5 console bundle and DualSense controller:
