Insomniac Has Confirmed That Marvel’s Wolverine Is Part Of The Marvel’s Spider-Man Universe

Marvellous.

In a huge, tell-all spoilercast with the Kinda Funny crew, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2’s Creative Director, Brian Intihar, has confirmed that Insomniac’s other, upcoming superhero title Marvel’s Wolverine will be set in the same universe as its Spider-Man games.

Intihar simply told the Tim Gettys, Blessing Adeoye Jr. and Greg Miller, when asked about whether the Wolverine and Spider-Man games share a common setting, that “they’re all 1048,” which is in reference to Earth-1048 – the version of the Spider-Man universe that Insomniac’s take on Peter, Miles and co exist in.

The creative director also addressed why the studio opted not to include Wolverine in the just-released Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 in any way, saying: “There was a decision not to do it. I think for us, we wanted to let that team cook. And who knows what the future holds? But right now, let’s let them do their thing.”

We gave Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 a 9/10 in our review, saying “Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 cleverly pairs its added width and breadth with more depth and meaningful new gameplay and story opportunities. There’s rarely a moment here that doesn’t feel thrilling, enchanting, heartbreaking, awe-inspiring or some combination of it all. Beyond untangling the finer threads of its design or narrative ambitions though, it’s genuinely just the most fun, gorgeous open world superhero game out there.”
