No New Major First-Party PS5 Games From Existing Franchises Will Be Released Before April 2025

Sony revealed its financial results for the last quarter in which it revised PS5 console sales down, but the most interesting takeaway was that the company doesn’t plan to release any first-party software from existing franchises before April 2025.

“Regarding first-party software, we aim to continue to focus on producing high-quality productions and producing live service games. But while major projects are currently under development, we do not plan to release any new major existing franchise titles next fiscal year like God of War: Ragnarok and Marvel Spider-Man 2.” said Sony president Hiroki Totoki.

Now, obviously, this doesn’t mean that we won’t get any PlayStation games this year, but it’s likely we’ll see more second party games as well as smaller games and new IP.

It’ll be interesting to see how PlayStation’s year looks with rumoured new hardware coming later this year.
