Original Story: Developer Thekla, Inc. has announced that the long-awaited Braid, Anniversary Edition will officially launch on April 29th, 2024 for PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One and Netflix.
The indie classic from Jonathan Blow is considered of the pioneering titles in proving the viability of indie games on major console platforms, having launched on Xbox Live Arcade to huge success in 2008. The Anniversary Edition will repackage it with a new coat of paint, new audio treatments, with players able to switch between both the modern and classic versions of Braid at any point in the game. It’ll also come with a treasure trove of over 15 hours of developer commentary.
“The goal is to make it the craziest, most-in-depth commentary ever put in a video game,” said Thekla founder Jonathan Blow in a press release. “You can follow particular threads of commentary spatially, through wormholes that go from level to level to see evolutions of particular concepts; the commentary has lots of markup so we can circle stuff on the screen, point arrows at whatever visual detail we are talking about, show diagrams, play back recordings of gameplay to show what happens if you try doing this or that in a particular level, and many other capabilities.”
