Update 7/8: And today’s the day! The official PlayStation VR2 PC Adapter is in stores right now, so owners of a PS VR2 headset can hook it up to a capable PC, download the dedicated Steam app and start playing compatible PC VR games on Sony’s excellent VR headset.
The adapter costs $94.95 and is available at the below retailers, but already selling out fast:
Alongside the launch, Valve’s VR-exclusive Half Life: Alyx – probably one of the biggest reasons to get into PC VR at all – just so happens to be hugely discounted by a whopping 66%, down to just $29.90. It’s so perfectly timed you’d think it was intentional!

Original Story: After its presence was revealed slightly early by a certification filing, PlayStation has officially revealed its promised solution for allowing owners of the PS VR2 to use it with a PC – the official PlayStation VR2 PC Adapter.
The adapter, which retails for $94.95 AUD and launches at select retailers in Australia on August 7th, will allow PC players to use PlayStation’s excellent headset with a wide library of SteamVR games like the coveted Half-Life: Alyx, simply by plugging it into their rig with the adapter and the PS VR2’s existing USB-C connection. It seemingly only works via Steam at this point, using a dedicated PlayStation VR2 App, but the SteamVR experience is generally the best way to get into VR on PC anyway.
There are some caveats to using the PS VR2 with a PC, rather than a PS5, with a lot of the headset’s more unique features not available such as HDR, headset and haptic feedback, eye tracking and adaptive triggers. PlayStation says you’ll still get the full 4K visuals, 110-degree FOV, finger touch detection, see-through view, 3D audio and limited foveated rendering, though.
The company also shared the basic system requirements you’ll need to reliably power the headset over on the PlayStation Blog, though obviously you’ll need to separately ensure your system is up to scratch for the VR games you want to run on it:

There is no word at the time of writing on local availability for the PlayStation VR2 PC Adapter, but we’ll update as we know more.
