Doom: The Dark Ages

Doom: The Dark Ages Introduces Its Cosmic Realm Full Of Lovecraftian Terrors

It's Hugo's house of horrors!

Although we got hints at Cthulu in the most recent WrestleMania 41 trailer, Doom: The Dark Ages will seemingly feature a Cosmic Realm, as revealed by the game’s director, Hugo Martin, in a PlayStation-exclusive trailer.

If you’re a Doomslayer in this day and age, you might be concerned as to why the forces of Hell are teaming up with the eldritch terrors of the Cosmic Realm, but we’re supposing those reasons will be revealed in the final game. Regardless, the area still seems rather hellish in its architecture and population, though it gives off a distinctly Lovecraftian vibe by swapping Hell’s red hue for purple.

The five-minute trailer also shows off the Reaver Shot, a melee-focused gun of sorts that fires a retractable cannonball at demons with devastating impact. It’s like an energy-powered mace in gun form.
