The First Images And Details Of Logitech’s Gaming Handheld Have Seemingly Leaked

The DMCAs, they do nothing!

Less than a month ago, Logitech teased a partnership with gaming giant, Tencent, to launch their own handheld gaming device – a cloud-based solution that would leverage Logitech’s expertise in hardware and Tencent’s software chops and work in partnership with streaming services such as Xbox Cloud Gaming and Nvidia GeForce NOW.

While neither company revealed or has since revealed anything more around the device, a handful of images of the Logitech G Gaming Handheld (I thought the G already meant gaming??) managed to make their way to leaker Evan Blass, who posted them to Twitter. The images were almost immediately hit with a DMCA by Logitech, which realistically did little to stop them from circulating but did have the unintended effect of all but confirming their legitimacy.

Following the DMCA, Blass also tweeted to point out that Google has the device catalogued already along with a breakdown of its specs, which are as follows:

  • OS: Android 11
  • SOC: Qualcomm SM7125:
    CPU: 2x Qualcomm Kryo 465 (2300MHz), 6x Qualcomm Kryo 465 (1800MHz)
    GPU: Qualcomm Adreno 618 (750MHz)
  • RAM: 3.7GB – 3.8GB
  • Display: 1920 x 1080 @ 320dpi

It’s certainly an interesting device, looking like a lot like a Switch in overall footprint and button layout. The UI pictured in the leaked photos (below) suggests that it could also have access to Google Play apps, which makes sense given that it’s a relatively underpowered mobile device designed specifically for streaming.

I’m not sure how many people would be interested in adding yet another dedicated device to their toolbelt when there are a plethora of very good controller attachments for existing mobile phones, but if the battery life is good enough and it does indeed run native Android games and apps there might be something in this.
