A New Nintendo Switch With A Second Screen Has Been Teased In The Latest Firmware Update

Yesterday, Nintendo released firmware update 10.0.0 for the Nintendo Switch which included the ability to remap controllers, move software from console to MicroSD (and visa versa) as well as new user icons, but it’s the little bit of code that is far more intriguing than all of this.

Mike Heskin, who has been known for finding little bits of code in the past has found reference to a new Nintendo Switch console in the firmware code. The console is codenamed ‘nx-abcd’ (which lines up with former codenames).

The biggest part of this finding however, is that the code refers to a new Nintendo Switch mode with a second screen. Now, this doesn’t necessarily mean that it’d be a Nintendo DS type device, but it could point to a second screen that is used for notfiications or something to that degree.

It could also be something that never sees the light of day, but it’s interesting that it was there nonetheless. Both the Nintendo Switch Lite and new Nintendo Switch with improved battery were discovered this way before they were announced.

We know that Nintendo has no plans to release a console this year, but it’s likely that we’ll see some kind of Nintendo Switch Pro next year.
