As confirmed by McDonald’s Türkiye, McDonald’s in Türkiye has introduced a brand new device geared at the “pro gamer,” it’s called the ‘Archie,’ and it’s designed to draw a controller’s joysticks together to help players avoid going AFK while mid-meal.
While I honestly thought this was a delayed April Fool’s gag, it is, indeed, a promotional campaign geared at the high-level gamer, and it’s welcomed alongside the limited-time Pro Gamer Menu, which is available for delivery orders only because, let’s be real, the peak gamer couldn’t possibly pop down to their local Macca’s for a bite.
The meal includes a Big Mac, medium fries, medium Coke, and eight onion rings.
“Being away from the screen during online gameplay—especially in high-intensity moments—can directly disrupt the flow of the game,” said Özde? Dönen Artak, McDonald’s Türkiye’s CMO, on the campaign.
That is why many players turn to different workarounds. We transformed this behavior into a gamer insight and made Archie part of the McDonald’s experience by offering it as a gift to customers who order the Pro Gamer Menu.”
It certainly has a use case. Whether it sees a global rollout, or reaches as far as our shores, remains to be seen.
