Nintendo has just premiered one of the biggest Nintendo Directs in the history of the company, with the first part of it revolving around how Nintendo intends to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the original Super Mario Bros. game.
Of course, with a mammoth showcase lasting nearly an hour, that’s the least of what we’re expecting. Of course, we’re expecting dates for a couple of key releases yet to come this year, and we’re hoping for Nintendo to paint a picture for how their third-party partners will support the new console into 2026.
Here’s a rundown of everything that was announced at the September 2025 Nintendo Direct.

Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave Was Revealed
The Nintendo Direct closed with a look at a new Fire Emblem title, the first game in the series since Fire Emblem: Engage a couple of years ago. Aside from clear gladiator vibes, the debut trailer showed a lot of Cai, the game’s seeming protagonist. Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave launches in 2026.
Pokémon Pokopia Is A Weird Looking Sim Game Starring None Other Than Ditto
In a novel approach to the Pokémon IP, this Ditto-led sim game lets you befriend the cutesy pocket monsters and build up a community for them to live in by learning key skills from them, such as the ability to create grass from Bulbasaur.
Pokémon Legends Z-A Got A New Trailer Showing Off Its Mega-Evolutions
Looks mega cool, no?
It’s Not Even Out Yet, But Pokémon Legends Z-A’s Paid DLC Has Been Revealed
It features Raichu, and it revolves around the discovery of Mega-Evolved Pokémon in Lumiose City. Hopefully we learn more about it as the base game’s release nears.
Resident Evil 9: Requiem Was Confirmed For Nintendo Switch 2

Even if it is paid, we’re rapt that there’s more content so soon after Donkey Kong Bananza’s recent launch, as though we need any excuse to keep smashing. Emerald Rush, which is out today, takes a bit of a roguelike approach and revolves around collecting emeralds across various layers.

The next entry in the Yoshi line of video games was revealed to cap off the Mario 40th portion of the Nintendo Direct. It’s coming next year.
Super Mario Wonder’s Nintendo Switch 2 Edition Introduces A New Mode
As with most of the Nintendo Switch 2 iterations that we’ve seen so far, Super Mario Wonder’s is set to feature a new mode. It’s called Meetup in Bellabel Park, which is likely to have a multiplayer mini-game flavour to it. The re-release will include all of the standard bells and whistles when it launches in 2026.
Super Mario Galaxy 1+2 Remastered Are Headed To The Nintendo Switch Next Month
Along with great-looking Amiibos of Mario and Rosalina, it was announced that physical collections for Super Mario Galaxy 1+2 Remastered would be making their way to both consoles next month.
