The latest patent filed from Nintendo is definitely an interesting one. It’s hard to make out exactly what it relates to however it appears that Nintendo are planning to build in functionality for multiple NPC items to be used in conjunction. It appears to be a new NFC reader that can read multiple items, from multiple angles and also features some kind of optical sensors that would allow a sense of augmented reality applications.
It’s important to note that most patents don’t make it off the ground. It’s definitely something that Nintendo are investigating. If it does eventuate into a retail product, it could mean that Nintendo will be creating something that allows your Amiibo or other NFC items to interact with real world objects. Sounds like it could be something cool.
