The EB Games Online Zing Marketplace Is Closing Down

Less than six months after it launched, it appears that the new Zing Marketplace online retailer that EB Games launched in September is officially closing down.

In an email sent to those that had registered paid listings over the months, the Zing Marketplace team thanked those that were apart of the Zing Marketplace beta, before informing them that the beta will be coming to a close tomorrow (March 22nd) at 2pm AEST. From this time onwards, adverts as well as users accounts will be deleted.

The full update reads:

“Thank you for being a part of the Zing Marketplace beta. The beta will be coming to a close on Tuesday 22 March at 2pm AEST. From this time, you will no longer have access to your adverts or your account. We have appreciated your support and loved seeing all the pop culture and retro gaming products that have you listed. Thank you for your support.

Kind regards,
The Zing Marketplace Team”

Since launch, it was clear that a lot of listings weren’t going up, both due to a listing cost as well as the fact that places such as Facebook Marketplace and such are an obvious go-to for listing any item. The storefront had trialled free listings in recent weeks, but obviously it wasn’t enough to save the online marketplace.

Definitely a cool idea, and one that I could have seen taking off in another climate, as obviously there’s a big market in collectibles.
