It’s been a long time coming, having originally been announced back in 2015 under the Warner Bros. Pictures umbrella before being delayed and changing hands, but the Five Nights At Freddy’s film adaptation is finally almost here.
Now in production at Blumhouse and being distributed by Universal Pictures, the Five Nights At Freddy’s movie is due to release in Aussie cinemas on October 26th this year, and after a brief tease last month the very first full trailer for the film has just dropped.
The official trailer, which you can watch below, introduces us to main character Mike Schmidt (Josh Hutcherson) as he takes on a security guard role on advice from his career counsellor Steve Raglan (Matthew Lillard), evidently leading him to the ever-unsettling family entertainment establishment of Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza and the horrors that await him being trapped there at night. Freddy and his murderous, animatronic friends definitely look mighty creepy in this film adaptation:
Five Nights At Freddy’s stars Hutcherson and Lillard alongside Elizabeth Lail, Kat Conner Sterling, Piper Rubio and Mary Stuart Masterson. The series’ creator, Scott Cawthon, has been heavily involved in the project from the initial Warner Bros. run and is now credited as a writer and producer on the film under Blumhouse Productions. Jim Henson’s Creature Shop is responsible for bringing the animatronic Freddy Fazbear crew to life.
Lillard has reported in the past that he’d signed a three-picture deal with the studio, so this will more than likely be the first of many Five Nights At Freddy’s films.
Five Nights At Freddy’s is set to premiere in theatres in Australia on October 26th, with a simultaneous release on streaming services in select regions. An official website has been set up at fivenightsatfreddys.movie, and you can find out more local release information on the Universal Pictures Australia website.
