After having slipped out weeks ago thanks to some intrepid Dead by Daylight dataminers, the release date for The Casting of Frank Stone – the new single-player title set in the DBD universe and developed by horror vets Supermassive Games – has been officially revealed.
The game is slated to release on September 3rd, 2024, for PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC, and will come in both a Standard and the requisite Deluxe Edition.
Those who pre-order will also get “instant access” to a feature called Plunderer’s Instinct, which supposedly makes it easier to find hidden collectibles in the game. And as far as the Deluxe Edition goes, it’s 8 exclusive costumes as well as another “instant access” to an in-game feature, this time one that allows you to “return to key decision points in the story and change their outcome or track down collectibles you missed.”
Hopefully, and presumably, these two features will also be available to everyone who simply plays the game long enough to unlock them, but it does feel a little sketchy to put an early lock on some handy mechanics for anyone who doesn’t fork out.
The Casting of Frank Stone is poised to be a thrilling narrative game set in the world of the hit horror multiplayer title, imbuing the franchise with Supermassive’s trademark style where players’ every decision matters in shaping the story, its outcome and the fate of its characters.
It’ll be an exciting one for Dead by Daylight fans especially, offering an all-new look at the wider world of the franchise in a completely original story, set in the town of Cedar Hills as a group of young friends find themselves at the mercy of the blood-soaked legacy of Frank Stone – a legacy that ripples across generations and the very fabric of reality itself.
