Geralt Of Rivia’s Voice Actor Has Confirmed He’ll Appear In The Witcher 4

Geralt of Rivia will feature in the next mainline The Witcher game, though he won’t have the starring role. It’s hardly news, or at all surprising, but it’s word straight from the mouth of Geralt’s video game voice actor, Doug Cockle, in a new appearance on YouTube channel Fall Damage, where he attempts to recall iconic lines from his work on the existing games.

Partway through the video (and picked up by the folks at PC Gamer), Cockle drops some hints at his role in the next game, saying, “Witcher 4 has been announced.”

“I can’t say anything about it. What we know is that Geralt will be part of the game, we just don’t know how much, and the game won’t focus on Geralt. So it’s not about him this time. We don’t know who it’s about. I’m excited to find out. I want to know!

“I have not seen any script yet—I mean, I couldn’t tell you if I did. This is the thing, so I could be lying through my teeth. But I’m not. Or am I?”

The game, which is known to be codenamed Polaris, has already been described as “the beginning of an entirely new saga,” so it’s hardly a shock to know that Geralt isn’t the focus this time around, but it’s nice to know (and probably inevitable) that he’ll make an appearance.

You can find the segment in question at around the 7:20 mark, but the whole thing is genuinely worth a watch for some great insight into the development of the video game version of Geralt and the ways in which Cockle brought him to life (and made him sexy). Check it out below:

There’s still plenty of The Witcher to come, with the final two seasons of Netflix’ live action adaptation (now starring Liam Hemsworth as Geralt) on the way, along with an animated series titled Sirens of the Deep, and of course multiple game projects including a multiplayer title.
