Mafia: The Old Country Is A Brand-New Entry Coming Next Year

"Country is a dish that tastes best when served Old."

This morning saw a brand-new edition of Geoff Keighley’s annual Gamescom Opening Night Live showcase, kicking off the massive Gamescom show in Cologne, Germany with a couple of hours of new trailers, updates, world premiere announcements and more.

One big surprise at the tail end of the show was the reveal of Mafia: The Old Country, an all-new game in 2K and Hangar 13’s well-respected franchise and slated to launch in 2025 for PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC.

While we don’t know a whole lot beyond the 1990s Sicily setting, The Old Country will supposedly take players back to the series’ roots in presenting a gritty, authentic narrative experience.

“Uncover the origins of organized crime in Mafia: The Old Country, a gritty mob story set in the brutal underworld of 1900s Sicily,” reads the game’s official description. “Fight to survive in this dangerous and unforgiving era, with action brought to life by the authentic realism and rich storytelling that the critically acclaimed Mafia series is known for.”

“Across the first three entries in the Mafia franchise, we introduced players to the world of the Mafia through brutal stories set in different eras,” said Nick Baynes, President of Hangar 13. “In Mafia: The Old Country, we’re going back to the roots of what fans love about the franchise, crafting a deep, linear narrative with that classic mob movie feeling, visiting a stunning new setting, and delivering it all in a tight, focused package perfect for fans of immersive experiences.”

There’ll be a deeper look at the game coming in December, but for now you can check out the official teaser trailer for Mafia: The Old Country below:
