Hazelight Studios has been on quite a run of late. Not only are its exciting, innovative co-op experiences a critical success, but it also turns out they’re doing very well from a commercial perspective.
The studio, headed by the famously foul-mouthed and Oscars loathing Josef Fares, announced today on X that, after combining the sales figures from their first three video games, they’ve exceeded 50 million units sold. It’s a feat the studio has managed to achieve in under a decade.
It Takes Two is far and away the team’s most successful title thus far, eclipsing a staggering 30 million copies, while A Way Out and Split Fiction share the remaining 20 million copies.
It’s worth noting that Split Fiction has only been out for just over a year.
When we reviewed Split Fiction, we scored it a 9.5 out of 10, stating: “Split Fiction is a masterclass of game design, and is yet another instant classic from a team who have, across a span of three games, rewritten the handbook on how to develop fun and insanely inventive stories that’ll be remembered for one thing, among others: spotlighting the power of friendship.”
There’s also a film adaptation of Split Fiction currently in development, with Sydney Sweeney attached to star.
Hazelight Studios is currently developing its fourth title, although there’s no timeline on when that might be revealed to the public.
