Super Mario Run Downloaded 90 Million Times But Only 3% Paid To Upgrade

New data suggests that whilst Super Mario Run has been downloaded around 90 million times. However, only 3% of those have paid to upgrade. According to information provided by The Wall Street Journal, the data suggests that it has earned $30 million in gross revenue since it was released in mid December.

It was always expected that Super Mario Run would have a low upgrade percentage. 3% seems a lot lower than I was expecting.

However, it’s important to note that there is a significant amount of gamers on Android. The platform is yet to see the game, with pre-registrations recently going live.

We absolutely loved the game marking it as the next logical step for Nintendo.

Thanks, The Wall Street Journal.

  • Prediction: 1.5% conversion rate on 120 million downloads on Android. There are more gamers and devices in the Android ecosystem but nobody wants to pay for anything because they are tightwads. Also, $30 million for their first iPhone game on only one platform is pretty good. They will refine the model and pricepoint in the future, but they will never compromise their commitment to solid, fun gameplay.
