Doom Eternal Will Release Day One On Nintendo Switch And Run At 30 FPS

Over the weekend, Bethesda revealed that Doom Eternal would be coming to Nintendo Switch in addition to PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC.

Whilst it wasn’t hugely surprising (due to the fact that the original Doom and Wolfenstein: The New Colossus came to Switch), this is the first time that Bethesda (or any AAA publisher for that matter) is aiming to release a major new release on Switch at the same time as PS4 and Xbox One.

Marty Stratton has revealed to Eurogamer, that they’re planning on launching Doom Eternal on Switch on the same day as it releases on PS4, Xbox One and PC. It’s not clear if this will be late 2019 or beyond, but the team insists that they’re happy with how development is progressing.

Further to this, they have revealed that Panic Button (master of ports at this point) will be responsible for bringing the game to Switch. It’s also been confirmed that it will run at 30FPS on Switch, whilst maintaining 60FPS on other platforms. Definitely not unexpected, but pretty major for a fast-paced game like Doom.

Regardless, it’s pretty exciting to see that 2019 might be the year that we finally start getting these games on Nintendo Switch at the same time as other platforms.

Thanks, EuroGamer.
