The Pokémon Company have finally revealed the next generation of Pokémon games. Dubbed by fans as the “Pokémon RPG”, the game has now been revealed to be Pokémon Sword and Shield.
The games will take place in a new region, of course, called the Galar region. Galar as a region is incredibly diverse – there’s vast countrysides, creepy forests and Skyrim-esque mountains.
President and CEO of The Pokémon Company, Mr. Ishiihara, had the following to say about Sword and Shield:
Trainers around the world have discovered new Pokémon, engaged in epic battles, and made countless memories along the way. We look forward to continuing this journey by exploring a stunning new region in the Pokémon universe when the games launch later this year on Nintendo Switch.
When you jump into Sword and Shield, you’ll have the choice of three starters as always. Grookey is a Grass-type Chimpanzee. Scorunny is a Fire-type Rabbit and Sobble is a Water-type Lizard…….or something.
Pokémon Sword and Shield will release exclusively on Nintendo Switch in 2019. It was also confirmed that other Pokémon projects are in develop to release this year too, but nothing formal was discussed.
