Nintendo Switch Firmware Update 12.0.0 Just Released But It’s Fairly Underwhelming

It’s been a while since we’ve had a major Nintendo Switch Firmware update, and that changed today with the drop of the 12.0.0 firmware update.

Unfortunately though, whilst these more major, fully numbered updates normally bring a number of changes, this seems to have been pushed out to fix an issue with save data. For instance, the 11.0.0 brought us the ability to prioritise downloads, sharing screenshots to your mobile and a new Nintendo Switch online app.

According to the patch notes, firmware update 12.0.0 fixes an issue where the Nintendo Switch was stopping automatic save data updates when there was a communication error. This has now been fixed.

NINTENDO SWITCH FIRMWARE UPDATE 12.0.0 PATCH NOTES

We fixed the issue with the save data backup feature, where in rare cases, the automatic backup of save data is interrupted if a communication error occurs during completion of the save data backup process.

Hopefully we get folders and a couple of other highly requested features in the near future, but these major updates have been few and far between.
