It’s hard to believe that the Nintendo Switch is almost five years old at this point, but it’s quickly become a global phenomenon and almost toppled the almighty Wii in the lifetime sales rankings in that time alone.
Aside from the versatility and user-friendliness of the Switch hardware, it’s undeniable that much of its success can be attributed to an incredibly strong software lineup from Nintendo’s first-party development houses and exclusive third-party offerings. That trend is set to continue into 2022, if an infographic posted to the official Nintendo of America Twitter account is any indication:
One look at that last section of the image, covering games headed to the console in 2022, and it’s easy to see that it’s going to be an exciting year for Switch owners.
Some of the titles are long-anticipated releases that are finally going to see the light next year, such as Bayonetta 3, while others are more freshly announced and fantastic-looking surprises like Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope and Kirby and the Forgotten Land.
While not everything listed has a strict release date yet (or even an official title in the case of the Breath of the Wild sequel), it’s a banger lineup. We do have dates for some titles at least, with Pokémon Legends Arceus coming soon on January 28, Triangle Strategy coming on March 4 and Dying Light 2: Stay Human Cloud Edition hitting the console via streaming on April 2, 2022.
This of course, likely doesn’t cover everything Nintendo has up its sleeve for next year either. We’re still waiting on more news for Metroid Prime 4, and rumours of a new Xenoblade Chronicles sequel and a fresh Pikmin title still hang in the air, so 2022 has the potential to get even bigger still.
