After receiving dribs and drabs over the last few years since the film’s initial reveal, a heap of new casting announcements (via Deadline) have been revealed for The Legend of Zelda film, co-produced by Nintendo and Sony Pictures, including the big bad Ganondorf himself.
Aussie actor Uli Latukefu, best known for playing the younger version of Dwayne Johnson in Young Rock, has been cast as the game’s iconic and long-standing villain, Ganondorf. Other actors announced to be attached to the project include Severance’s Dichen Lachman, The Handmaid’s Tale’s Yvonne Strahovski, and the late Sam Neill, who passed away last month aged 78, in one of his final on-screen performances.
While confirmed, no particular roles have been confirmed for said actors, although Deadline has heard through sources that Strahovski is attached to a queen-like role, while Lachman is apparently Impa, Zelda’s advisor.
Last year, it was revealed that Link and Zelda would be portrayed by Benjamin Evan Ainsworth and Bo Bragason respectively.
The film, which has wrapped production, is set for its theatrical release on April 30, 2027.
