With Gamescom’s festivities only a day or two away, CD Projekt RED’s joint CEO, Michal Nowakowski, has taken to social media to post a brief update about The Witcher franchise.
All the while reiterating the studio’s presence at Gamescom to show off more of The Witcher 3’s upcoming DLC, Songs of the Past, which is set to bridge the gap between the third and fourth titles, Nowakowski also provided an update on The Witcher 4, revealing the studio’s release target for the game.
“Now, I know you’re eager to learn when it’s coming,” Nowakowski teased after giving an overview of the game’s scope and ambition.
“So, while we’re not showing The Witcher 4 at the event, and we’re not ready to share an exact date, I can tell you this: The Witcher 4 is targeting a 2028 release window.”
The Witcher 4’s reveal kicked off The Game Awards almost two years ago, showing off an older version of Ciri, who has been confirmed as the game’s protagonist. That’s not to say Geralt will be absent from the game, although CD Projekt isn’t elaborating on this role in the adventure at this time.
Barring any production delays, The Witcher 4 is expected to release in 2028. The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt – Songs of the Past, on the other hand, will launch next year.
