In an interview with Verge, Nintendo of American’s president Doug Bowser revealed some exciting facts about the Nintendo Switch’s performance in the month of October, including launch sales of the month’s flagship title Metroid Dread.
Bowser revealed that the Switch console itself topped US hardware charts for October 2021 in both sales units and dollars, with 711,000 units sold including 314,000 of the new Switch OLED Model.
Launching on the same day as the Switch OLED, Nintendo’s big first-party release for the month was Metroid Dread, which Bowser says had the best launch sales for the franchise to date – 854,000 in the US.
Global figures for both the console and Metroid Dread weren’t spoken about in the interview, but it bodes well for the series moving forward that Dread has performed as well in at least one major territory.
