Nintendo have spilled the beans on their mysterious Nintendo Switch 2 C button after weeks — if not months — of theories and debates on its purpose. Revealed at last night’s Nintendo Switch 2 Direct, it turns out some people had it right!
The C Button, included on the right, updated Joy-Con, is a shortcut for GameChat, a “new feature” for the Nintendo Switch 2. A microphone is built into the system that picks you up from a distance with a background noise cancelling feature.
The chat menu has a few options, including a mute button, and there’s a slew of parental controls. A Nintendo Online membership will be required by GameChat will be free to try up until March 31st, 2026.
In the video revealing the feature, Nintendo also showed off a game screen sharing feature, similar to social features on current generation consoles.
