EA has confirmed that it has reached an agreement to acquire Dirt/F1 developer/publisher, Codemasters.
EA made an offer which put the company’s worth at US $1.2 billion. Interestingly enough, it was thought up until yesterday that Take-Two would acquire the company, but their valuation put Codemasters at US $980 million.
Codemasters most recent works include Dirt, F1, Grid, WRC, but they also own Slightly Mid which are responsible for games such as Project Cars and Fast & Furious Crossroads.
EA CEO Andrew Wilson said: “We believe there is a deeply compelling opportunity in bringing together Codemasters and Electronic Arts to create amazing and innovative new racing games for fans,” he said.
