Oculus Is Teasing A New Headset Codenamed Project Cambria

During Connect 2021, where we’ve already seen some big Oculus news including the rebranding to Meta, it was also announced that the company is working on a brand-new VR headset.

The new headset, codenamed Project Cambria, wasn’t revealed in full but a teaser was shown that reveals it uses much higher-end lenses than the current Quest 2 headset and uses video passthrough to create an AR experience. This means the headset should be overall more compact than other high-end VR headsets and allow for the kinds of interactive social experiences that Meta is hoping to achieve on its platforms in the future.

You can look at the teaser video below, and we expect more news to arrive during the next year as the headset aims to launch in 2022.

Oculus’ current headset, the Quest 2, is available starting from $479 on Amazon.
