Original Story: The original Red Dead Redemption is finally coming to the PC, although Rockstar hasn’t announced it yet. So how do we know? Well, the PlaySation Store says so.
For whatever reason, and on multiple regional versions of the PSN storefront, the recent-ish PS4 version’s official description has been updated to describe the as-yet-unannounced PC port of the game. If I had to hazard a guess, there could be a current-gen native port also coming and someone’s mixed up the descriptions when updating them. If not that, then I’m stumped.
Mysterious as its origins are, there’s no second-guessing the description here which specifically calls out PC-specific enhancements for the game over last year’s PS4 and Switch port including increased resolutions and framerates, spatial surround sound and more.
Here’s what the description says:
“Experience the epic western adventures that defined a generation — now on PC for the first time ever.
“When federal agents threaten his family, former outlaw John Marston is forced to hunt down the gang of criminals he once called friends. Experience Marston’s journey across the sprawling expanses of the American West and Mexico as he fights to bury his blood-stained past in the critically acclaimed predecessor to the 2018 blockbuster, Red Dead Redemption 2. Also included is Undead Nightmare, the iconic horror story that transforms the world of Red Dead Redemption into an apocalyptic fight for survival against a zombie horde.
“Featuring the complete single-player experiences of both games, including bonus content from the Game of the Year Edition, Red Dead Redemption features all of the 2023 console version upgrades plus PC specific enhancements including support for increased resolutions and framerates, multiple displays, and other accessories, plus spatial surround sound.”
Steven scored last year’s Switch version of Red Dead Redemption a 7.5/10, saying, “The Switch port of Red Dead Redemption is a faithful way to get into the world of Red Dead. It looks good as long as you adjust expectations and consider the game’s age, and performs consistently well in both handheld and docked modes. While many aspects will feel dated, I still had a fun time exploring the old west with John during the last gasps of the American frontier.”
