The Most Hilariously Janky Mass Effect Andromeda Animations

Whilst we wait for Mass Effect Andromeda reviews to drop early next week, many gamers are already playing through the early portions of the game in the EA Access trial.

A lot of the gifs below speak for themselves, but it appears that there’s definitely something janky going on with some aspects of the game. This is nothing new for the series or Bioware for that matter, but it appears that the devs have had some particular issues in their transition to the Frostbite engine.

Unfortunately, we can’t say too much about the game just yet, but it seems to us that these reports are being way too over-sensationalised and won’t define the entire experience.

Interestingly enough, YouTuber ‘Xletalis’ has compared animations between the original Mass Effect in 2007 and Mass Effect Andromeda in 2017. For some strange reason, even though the original Mass Effect’s textures look worse, the animations appear much smoother and more realistic.

  • y'all saying these animations don't look completely ridiculous are either robots who only know how robots are supposed to look, or are being paid by EA

    • again if no one said these animations are "ridiculous" i would have played the hole game only noticing a couple

  • Not a great article (buzzfeed-level), but much worse animations.
    Nobody should be defending either.

    • why not? They all look fine, well all but one and out of 7 playthroughs only he had that animation so it was a bug

  • so... there was only one animation there that looked off to me and that was running the rest were fine

    • There's random glitches like the walking which pretty much exists in any open world game like this, the major gripe of most people are the facial animations which aren't random but present throughout the game and seem to be a product of the game engine itself.

    • and i have watched the same scene with 4 other streams and the animations are all the same except that one. Whoever submitted it or uploaded it had a bug

  • They've also gone the Assassin's Creed way of dialogue where it's rendered directly in the game world so you constantly have random background NPC's talking over your conversations, it's annoying as hell. I expect the standard Mass Effect glitches where a character just starts rotating as you talk to them but a lot of the problems in this game aren't random glitches but ever present bugs. It totally destroys the immersion when the main character constantly looks like a 10 year old who just got told they're getting a puppy.

      • I knew that somebody would say something. Aside from the fact that 'wanna' is a recognised contraction, I hardly think that an internet comment commands the same level of scrutiny as a published article.

        amirite??
