The PS5 Fan Is Apparently Fairly Quiet

The first hands-on impressions of the PS5 have arrived and courtesy of outlet 4gamer, we have our first impressions of how noisy the PS5 is.

Whilst playing Godfall in a fairly warm studio, the journalist says that the air coming out of the PS5 “was gentle and didn’t feel extremely hot”. When it comes to the noise of the PS5’s fans, he went on to say “I could hardly heard what seemed to be the rotating noise of the fan”.

Going into more detail they said:

“The PS5 had a mechanism that when it was installed vertically, it took in air from the top of the front (structurally probably also at the bottom) and exhausted it from the back. As you can see from the picture below, you can see some metal parts through the gap in the upper intake. This was an object like a finger, and it was as big as a fan with a size of 200 to 240 mm.”

“Also, from the structure, it seems that a sirocco fan is built in, so it seems that the housing itself doubles as a fan case. It is thought that this huge fan ensures quietness and cooling performance.”

Another preview that can be found HERE also said similar things:

“When we were wrapping up the gameplay we thought – huh, was the fan even spinning?”

Speaking about the light bars on the DualSense controller, it glows in four colours, blue, green red and purple and these are used to identify players. Impressions of the DualSense controller were really positive as well, with users saying that it felt comfortable to use and the sensation of haptic feedback and adaptive triggers together was impressive.
