PlayStation Has Acquired Housemarque

On the heels of the success of their sci-fi roguelike Returnal, Housemarque, who has long been a loyal PlayStation developer with releases such as Resogun and Matterfall, has been officially acquired and absorbed into the PlayStation Studios stable. Announced on the PlayStation blog, as well as Twitter, the acquisition is an apt reward for a developer that has a history of turning out quality titles for the family of PlayStation consoles, including the most recent Returnal, which we were obviously rather fond of. https://twitter.com/PlayStation/status/1409818300909907971 With Microsoft's recent history of buying up much of the industry's talents, it's a great return serve from PlayStation to pick up another big, proven developer after taking on Insomniac Games a couple of years ago. "We are so excited to finally join the PlayStation Studios family!" wrote Housemarque's co-founder and managing director Ilari Kuittinen. "This gives our studio a clear future and a stable opportunity to continue delivering on gameplay-centric approaches, while still experimenting with new methods of narrative delivery and pushing the boundaries of this modern artform."
