How To Upgrade Ghost Of Tsushima To The PS5 Version/Director’s Cut

Ghost of Tsushima Director’s Cut came out today bringing a new Iki Island expansion as well as a host of PS5 improvements but the upgrade path is definitely a little confusing.

HOW TO UPGRADE GHOST OF TSUSHIMA PS4 TO THE DIRECTOR’S CUT

If you own Ghost of Tsushima on PS4 and are wanting to play the Director’s Cut on PS4, it’s a much simpler process. You just need to buy this expansion to upgrade to the Director’s Cut for $29.95

HOW TO UPGRADE GHOST OF TSUSHIMA PS4 TO THE PS5 VERSION/DIRECTOR’S CUT

For some really bizarre reason, Sony is charging an extra $15 to upgrade to the Director’s Cut on PS5. This is broken down as $30 to get the Director’s Cut content and $15 for the PS5 version of the game (which comes with its own improvements)

There is no store listing for this one. Instead, you either need to put your PS4 disc into your PS5 console or go to the game in your library on your PS5 and select the PS5 Upgrade for $44.95 just like you would have done for all of the free PS5 upgrades that you’ve accessed over the last 6-8 months. You won’t find this in the store.

Once you pay the upgrade fee, your save should pull over from your PS4 version of the game automatically (using the import PS4 save feature in-game).

IF YOU DON’T CURRENTLY OWN GHOST OF TSUSHIMA BUT WANT TO PLAY THE DIRECTOR’S CUT ON PS5

If you don’t own Ghost of Tsushima but want the Director’s Cut, you can either buy the PS5 version for $109 or the PS4 version for $89. You can also buy the original game for $56 and technically save some money upgrading to the PS4 Director’s Cut.
