PlayStation Announced that the latest PS5 firmware update would be live tonight, and following it going live, it appears that the PlayStation Network appears to be having issues, with people not able to play games online as well as verify their licenses for digital games.
It’s unclear at this time if the outage is linked to the actual update itself, servers being overloaded or another reason, but it does seem to be quite widespread, effecting consoles all over the game.
Down Detector shows a huge spike in outages being reported starting roughly 9:30pm AEDT, with popular games such as FIFA 22, Battlefield 2042 and Grand Theft Auto Online also having major outages reported (likely linked to the PlayStation Network outage).
We’ll keep you posted as we know more about the situation.
