This is either one of the most significant game leaks of all time, or one of the most elaborate mods we’ve ever seen, but either way, it’s insanely fascinating.
Over 90 videos and screenshots, some more than a minute in length appeared on GTA Forums (the largest Grand Theft Auto website) claiming to show off our first look at Grand Theft Auto 6. Several of those videos can be seen in tweets like this, this, this and this, but they’ve also been collated in a YouTube video.
The gameplay footage and screenshots perfectly match what had previously been reported about the game, showing off a Latina female protagonist who appears to be named Lucia her male sidekick who appears to be named Jason going off the footage. The gameplay footage appears to show off a modern day Vice City, but given the mix of it, it’s hard to say for sure.
The gameplay footage ranges everywhere from in-mission gameplay, to character animations, and a huge variety of locations including a downtown, city location, a strip club, stores and more. One of the most telling parts of the footage is a particular cut scene that has a poolside conversation between the male character (seemingly named Jason) as well as two NPCs that has full voice acting. Interestingly enough the dialogue seems to reference a character from Grand Theft Auto V too.
Another video shows off the female protagonist (believed to be named Lucia going off the footage) robbing a waffle restaurant with Jason. This looks to be very similar to the heists that we saw in Red Dead Redemption 2. There’s other clips that show off the gunplay as well as driving away from Vice City police.
Obviously, if this is real it’s all alpha footage so by no means final, but it absolutely gives us a great look at what to expect in the final version of the game in terms of characters and setting. The origins of the leak are not yet clear.
We’re following this story as it unfolds, as no doubt this is going to be incredibly interesting to watch. Rockstar hasn’t revealed any information about Grand Theft Auto 6 outside of the fact that it is in development.
