During the Sony CES 2023 press conference, PlayStation boss Jim Ryan announced that the PlayStation 5 has surpassed 30 million units sold since its release in November 2020.
It was also revealed that, thanks in large part to an immense turnaround in availability of the hardware, December 2022 was the biggest sales month yet for the console. That sentiment is still going strong too, with consoles readily available at retailers like Amazon.
For comparison, the PlayStation 4 had sold close to 120 million units at last count in August 2022, nearly nine years after it entered the market.
PlayStation also took the 2023 Sony CES presentation to show off the Gran Turismo movie, announce Gran Turismo 7 as a PlayStation VR2 launch title and reveal its upcoming accessibility controller, codenamed Project Leonardo.
