The Lord of the Rings: Gollum Has A Release Date Again

The Lord of the Rings: Gollum, Nacon and Daedalic Entertainment’s long-gestating stealth-em-up based on Tolkein’s iconic Little Guy™ was has been doing the delay-release-date-delay dance for the better part of a couple years now, but this time might be the one. Hopefully.

Gollum, which will retell the experience of the titular character through the initial chapters of The Fellowship of the Ring, is now scheduled to launch on May 25th for PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One and PC with a Switch version coming “later this year.”

The team at Daedalic also showed off a massive amount of gameplay in a showcase, as well as answering some questions about the game. The footage looks about what you’d expect from a third-person stealth focused adventure with Gollum, with plenty of big, fantastical environments to trek through in mostly linear fashion. The developers are quick to stress that the footage is from a beta build of the game and they still have some way to go to polish up things like movement and controls.

Take a look at it below (gameplay around 4 minutes in and Q&A at around 25 mins):
