The Eighth Wonder of the World has returned, with an all-new game based on the iconic King Kong having been officially announced today (after being briefly leaked by Amazon) in Skull Island: Rise of Kong.
Based on the rich history of Skull Island developed by creator Joe DeVito and based on Merian C. Cooper’s King Kong, Rise of Kong will be third-person action adventure game that casts players as the titular ape in something of an origin story as he fights to take his rightful place as King of Skull Island. It’s set to come to PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Switch and PC in Spring this year.
The short, minute-long trailer debuted alongside the announcement isn’t a whole lot to go off, but it definitely has a more budget feel to it. The game is in development at IguanaBee which has worked on licensed games in the past and acted as a support studio for bigger projects, and publishing is being handled by GameMill Entertainment, known for bankrolling games like Nickelodeon Kart Racers, NERF Legends, Nickelodeon Kart Racers 2 and also Nickelodeon Kart Racers 3.
