The Last Of Us’ Joel And Ellie Voice Actors Have Reprised Their Roles For A Huge Halloween Event

Just pop on down to Hollywood if you wanna hear 'em.

Troy Baker and Ashley Johnson, the voices behind one of the PlayStation’s most iconic duos in Joel and Ellie, have had the opportunity to step back into their The Last of Us roles for… something a little different.

This year’s Universal Halloween Horror Nights event, an annual event held at Universal Studios Orlando and Universal Studios Hollywood at the very Halloween-centric time of early September, is bringing a special The Last of Us theme. Event goers will be able to take part in a “scare maze” that’s based on the original The Last of Us game’s Pittsburgh location, with Baker and Johnson bringing Joel and Ellie to the party with brand-new dialogue recorded just for the event.

Universal Orlando’s Lora Sauls confirmed in a talk with SFX Magazine (via VGC), “We got to use the voiceover actors from the video game. We did voiceover recordings with them and they re-recorded our entire dialogue for our haunted house.

“So we were very, very excited to work with both Troy and Ashley on the re-recording of our haunted house dialogue.”

If you happen to be in the area, Halloween Horror Nights 2023 is taking place at Universal Studios Orlando from September 1st – November 4th and Universal Studios Hollywood from September 7th – October 31st.

It’s not the only thing that Baker and Johnson are joining together to bring the world this year, either, with both actors having key roles in Stray Gods: The Roleplaying Musical, a game by Melbourne’s own Summerfall Studios that releases this week. We were very excited to for this to release after checking out the Steam Fest demo earlier in the year, when we said, “The folks at Summerfall Studios have put an absurd amount of work into integrating branching paths each musical number that change the very composition and lyrics as players make choices, which still blows my mind each time I play.”
