Although it was originally slated to launch on PS5 and PC at some point this year, Helldivers 2 debuted a new trailer at this morning’s PlayStation State of Play showcase along with a firm release date, putting its launch into next year on February 8th.

It’s not too much longer of a wait, and honestly puts the game in much more calendar-friendly territory with how stacked the back quarter of this year is, so it’s hard to argue an early 2024 launch is anything but a good thing.

The new gameplay trailer also gives us another look at just how badass this game is shaping up to be, showing off some exhilarating co-operative gameplay:

Join Johan Pilestedt and the Arrowhead Game Studio in a closer look at Helldivers 2 mission gameplay. Watch them take on a deadly Bile Titan using only their bare highly powered weaponry. This is only the beginning of our war against the enemies of Managed Democracy.

Thanks to a release date announcement and some more details on the PlayStation Blog we also now know a bit more about the game’s various editions, with digital pre-orders soon to go live on the PlayStation Store. Keen Helldivers will be able to choose between a Standard Edition and Super Citizen Edition, with the latter including a bunch of extra digital in-game goodies – including an entire mini-game available to play in your shop while you wait for your mates in a lobby.

All pre-orders for the game will also receive the below:

  • TR-7 Ambassador of the Brand – a promotional armor set for fans of SUMY Corp’s frozen yogurt.
  • TR-62 Knight – armor crafted to deliver justice to the darkest crevices of the galaxy.
  • TR-9 Cavalier of Democracy – Bearers of this armor ride no equine mount, but are nonetheless borne to battle atop the trusty steed of Liberty.
