Marvel’s Spider-Man 2’s New Game Plus Mode Is Coming In Early 2024

Not miles away.

While it had originally stated we’d likely see it drop before the end of the year, Insomniac Games has announced that its highly-anticipated major update for Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 containing a New Game Plus option (along with other important features) will now be ready at some point in early 2024.

The studio, which has just reportedly suffered a potentially huge data breach, jump scared a lot of us this morning with the announcement made via a format usually reserved for much worse news.

Insomniac says it needs more time to ensure the update is to its standard, and also revealed it’ll be adding a number of fan-requested features including the ability to replay missions, change the time of day and swap Spidey’s tendril colours as well as the addition of Audio Descriptions. “Hey Web-Heads,

“We have some news about the next game update for Marvel’s Spider-Man 2. We know players have been eagerly awaiting features such as New Game+ and Audio Descriptions, among many more. We have been working vigilantly on these features and require more testing to ensure the quality is up to our standards.

“We are now targeting Early 2024 for the next game update, and we’ll have a feature-complete list closer to its release. We’ve heard your feedback and will be adding some highly requested features, including the ability to change the time of day, swap tendril colors, and replay missions – just to name a few!

“We can’t wait to share more with you in the future. In the meantime, we appreciate your patience as our team works to finish our next update for Marvel’s Spider-Man 2! Thanks, Insomniac Games”

We gave Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 a 9/10 in our review in October, saying, “Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 cleverly pairs its added width and breadth with more depth and meaningful new gameplay and story opportunities. There’s rarely a moment here that doesn’t feel thrilling, enchanting, heartbreaking, awe-inspiring or some combination of it all. Beyond untangling the finer threads of its design or narrative ambitions though, it’s genuinely just the most fun, gorgeous open world superhero game out there.”
