Update: Naughty Dog has revealed when The Last of Us fans can finally check out Grounded II: Making The Last Of Us Part II, a documentary diving behind the scenes and into the creation of the game.
Grounded II will be available to watch for free on YouTube tomorrow, Saturday February 3rd at 4AM AEDT. It’ll also be watchable from within The Last of Us Part II Remastered, coming via a downloadable patch for the game which will also be available tomorrow.

With the launch of The Last of Us Part II Remastered fast approaching on January 19th, Naughty Dog has revealed at least one more surprise up its sleeve with the announcement of Grounded II: The Making of The Last of Us Part II, a follow-up to the 2013 behind-the-scenes documentary chronicling the development of the original The Last of Us.
Grounded II will release for free on YouTube as well as in a free post-launch update for The Last of Us Part II Remastered, though Naughty Dog hasn’t confirmed a release date as yet.

The original Grounded documentary was an insightful, 90-minute look into the process of creating one of the most iconic modern video games, so with any luck this second iteration will be just as compelling. You can see a trailer for Grounded II below, which also reveals that the documentary itself was originally abandoned due to the COVID-19 outbreak:

In other recent The Last of Us news, HBO has confirmed three of its new major cast members for the second season of its TV series based on the games, tapping Kaitlyn Dever for Abby, Young Mazin for Jesse and Isabela Merced for Dina.
We also learned recently that production on the second season of The Last of Us has been confirmed by showrunner Craig Mazin to start on February 12th, with the season premiere officially pegged for a 2025 release.
A 2025 release date gives fans and newcomers plenty of time to get through the recently-announced The Last of Us Part II Remastered, which launches on January 19th and features enhanced visuals for PS5 along with all-new content and game modes.
