No Man’s Sky’s PS5 Pro Enhancements Have Seemingly Been Discovered

The console still hasn't been announced.

It’s been a while since we’ve heard much out of the “PS5 Pro” rumour mill, but thanks to dataminers plumbing the depths of a recent update to No Man’s Sky which added a number of big graphical upgrades and features to the game, one of our first looks at a potential PS5 Pro update to a game has been unearthed.

The discovery comes via game developer and modder, ThatBomberBoi, on X, who posted screenshots comparing the baked-in graphical and performance presets for No Man’s Sky on the regular PS5 versus a new list of settings included in the update, under the name “Trinity,” which is widely believed to be the codename for the PS5 Pro.

Of note in the comparisons between the regular PS5 graphical settings and the “Trinity” versions are a slight bump up in the dynamic resolution scaling factor – which means the base rendering resolution being scaled up from to hit a 4K output is higher and should result in a cleaner-looking overall image – as well as some select graphical detail settings getting notched up a level, for example “water quality” going from High to Ultra.

The differences are honestly not massive and, at least based on what’s been datamined and heavily subject to change in the future, probably won’t result in a noticeable uplift to the average player. If these specs hold, it’s unlikely No Man’s Sky is gunning for that “PS5 Pro Enhanced” badge and instead has seen the team at Hello Games take the opportunity for a slight boost to performance and visuals thanks to the incoming hardware.

More than anything, these details are exciting purely because it’s the first real example of a game getting PS5 Pro enhancements that we’ve seen in the wild – and still before PlayStation has officially acknowledged or announced the upgraded console’s existence.

Given that we know that the newest No Man’s Sky update also borrows technology from Hello Games’ next big project, Light No Fire, including its water tech, we can also probably assume that the new game’s technology is being built with PS5 Pro in mind.
