The Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater trailer and release date (August 28th) leaked late last night, but what excited me most was the inclusion of the Snake vs Monkey mode that gives us our first look at the beautiful Apes in Unreal Engine 5 (and frankly looking better than ever).
If you’re not familiar with Snake vs Monkey, this was a minigame featured in Metal Gear Sold 4 on the PS2 in which you play as Solid Snake to capture a group of monkeys in the jungle. It’s set in stages from the main game and was supposed to be kid friendly with Snake only able to use a Monkey Shaker and stun grenades to catch the monkeys. The mode had 7 stages and has been missing on all subsequent re-releases of the game, so many are surprised to see it back.

In the PlayStation Store listing (now removed), here’s how it was described: “SNAKE VS MONKEY In this mode, you’ll play as Snake, and round up all the escaped apes running amok in each stage! ”
Metal Gear Sold: Delta is set to release on PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC. We doubt that this mode will feature on all platforms, but let’s wait and see.
