Resistance 4 And A The Order: 1886 Sequel Were Apparently Knocked Back By PlayStation

Sad news

Two different interviews have given us an insight into potential sequels to two very popular PlayStation franchises in Resistance and The Order: 1886.

Speaking to Kinda Funny Games, Insomniac Founder Ted Price said that the team had pitched Resistance 4 “It was a wonderful concept. It was the result of a lot of Insomniac Games team members being passionate about extending the story further” said Price.

“I do believe that Resistance set up a cool alternate history base where anything can happen with the Chimera and where they go and what their origins are. We spent a lot of time working on backstory and brainstorming on where we could take this in the future.” continued Price.

Unfortunately, Sony knocked back the extension due to “timing and market opportunity” not being there for Resistance. Personally, this is a sad one for me as Resistance remains one of my favourite PlayStation franchises and there is no way to play the original trilogy without owning a PS3.

In similar news, Ready at Dawn co-founder Andrea Pessino has spoken about the studios plans for an The Order: 1886 sequel (before the company got acquired by Meta). He believes that it was knocked back due to the critical reception of the game, which is disappointing given the mock reviews had it reviewing a lot better than critics.

“I don’t think it was the sales, I think it was the critical reception, that’s the thing” said Pessino. “We needed at least one more year, we didn’t get it, so we were like, cut, cut, cut.” he continued.

It seems extremely unlikely we’ll ever get another The Order: 1886 game. Resistance feels slightly more possible, but also fairly unlikely at this point.
