Ex-Lionhead Dev Speculates About Fable 4

With the Fable franchise on hiatus since the death of Fable Legends, hope for another installment has arisen as Don Williamson, former Lead Engine Programmer at the now-defunct Lionhead Studios has given us something quite interesting to think about:

“Mmm ok, having no inside information, I totally know who’s building Fable 4 now. Interesting choice…” – Don Williamson (@Donzanoid)

Williamson has since deleted the tweet and noted that he has no insider information regarding any ongoing project at Microsoft, but his follow-up tweets implied that development of Fable 4 would be ongoing with a developer in the UK:

A major possible candidate at this point would be Microsoft’s own Playground Games, which has been scouting for a senior game designer that will “join the team and the project at an early stage, giving you the rare opportunity to shape the future of an exciting, large-scale open world action / RPG AAA title from the outset.”

Whilst nothing has been confirmed, it’s interesting to think that Microsoft may possibly be returning to the franchise in the near future. Until then, unfortunately, all we can do is speculate.
