During this morning’s Inside Xbox broadcast, we got our first real good look at Grounded, Obsidian’s upcoming survival adventure which is set to arrive on both Xbox Game Preview and Steam Early Access on July 28, 2020.
With ant-like stature a major hurdle, the goal of the game is to, as Professor Frink from The Simpsons might say, “rebigulate” yourself while surviving the horrors of a regular suburban backyard. Being a clever survival sandbox, players can fashion body armour out of acorn shells, quench a powerful thirst with the morning’s dew and, with up to three friends in co-op multiplayer, survive a yardful of bugs, spiders and flying insects.
The concept reads like a Honey, I Shrunk The Kids spin-off, but the game certainly looks like a bit of fun as the team showed off the single-player experience and a first look at extended gameplay.
Given Microsoft’s prior acquisition of Obsidian, Grounded will also be apart of the Game Pass Ultimate line-up that rolls out in July.
