During its earnings call, AMD CEO spoke about future chipsets and in addition to confirming that the Steam Machine is set to launch early this year, it also seemingly confirmed that the next Xbox is set to launch in 2027 (hard to believe that’s next year I know).
“And development of Microsoft’s next-gen Xbox featuring an AMD semi-custom SoC [system-on-a-chip] is progressing well to support a launch in 2027,” she said.
It had been previously rumoured that the next Xbox and PlayStation consoles would release in 2027, marking seven years since the last release, but this had previously changed for Sony, but still seems to be in place for Xbox.
It’s expected that the next Xbox console will be much more PC orientated as Xbox looks to bring its PC and Xbox strategies closer together.
