According to a casting call recently uncovered by outlet MP1ST, the long-awaited third instalment in MachineGames’ Wolfenstein franchise might, at long last, be in active development.

The casting call is for a project codenamed ‘Valkyrie,’ which interestingly shares a name with a World War II-era plot to overthrow Hitler’s regime from within. Names attached to the call include Tom Keegan, who directed the performances in the studio’s last release, Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, and Emily Schweber, who helped with casting for the previous Wolfenstein games.

So with all signs pointing to this being the third game in William “B.J.” Blazkowicz’s story, that’s exciting for fans of the long-running franchise.

The casting call is for a character named Sofiya, a new character described as a Ukrainian orphan aged 8-11 who forms a bond with B.J. before joining him on this adventure.

The call also makes note that performance capture for the project is set to commence in April, with additional shooting planned to extend from late this year into early next year. When the game is scheduled to release is obviously unknown; however, expectations are that it might be attempting to coordinate with the TV adaptation that’s in development with Amazon Prime, as reported at Variety.
